All the modules are almost completed, however I do not plan to post them all on the web for public downloading. They are designed for a classroom situation and not for self study so some of the statements need an instructor to insure that they are understood correclty.
December 13, 2008 The MMA Clinic scheduled for today was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. It is rescheduled for Saturday January 24, 2009. However, students from the Ozark Judo Club and the Flippin Fight Club spent four hours studing Kodokan Judo throws in an MMA application. Specifically we spent time studing O-Soto-Gari, Sumi-gaeshi, and O-Soto-Makikomi with grips and attacks designed to work under no-gi and MMA rules.

August 4, 2008 I returned from Redding, California working on the wild fires there. I hope to be home for a couple of weeks before the next fire assignment. Coach Maple maintained the classes while I was out of town. Our class size has dropped due to vacations, hopefully we will pikc back up this fall.
June 29, 2008: We have gotten a few new students lately. This is wonderful! Welcome to all our new students, I will be taking photos soon and getting everyone's picture on the internet. I am moving our national affiliation from USJF primary to USJA primary. There are several reasons for this move. Most important is that it will allow me to let Clay Maple and Brian Bowser coach while I am away from the dojo. I recently found out that the USJF insurance requires a black belt to be at each practice or the insurance if void. The USJA insurance does not require this level of instruction at every practice session. In making this move, students may see a minor increase in annual fees. All students will be required to dual register in USJA and USJF. The primary registration will be USJA with USJF as an associate registration. The combined fees for both organizations are currently $55.00 per year which is what we charge now. If I make this change, we will use the USJA junior promotion system, retaining the senior promotin system I have in place. USJI registration will be required only for those students seeking referee licenses or who plan to compete in the US Sr Nationals or US Jr. Olympics.
June 20, 2008: I have not been able to attend classes as regular as I would like. My youngest son is down from Alaska and is helping me with a large building project on my farm. This has to be completed before he goes back home on June 24. After that I should be in class more regular. Thank Coach Maple for conducting classes in my absence! Along this line, fire season is heating up in the west. I suspect that I will be on fire assignments in July, August and September. While this takes me away form class, it is the way that I pay for the cost of running the dojo above the fees that the students pay. This allows me to keep the dojo open and the fees low. Coach Maple will conduct classes in Calico Rock in my absence. Along with Coach Maple, Coach Bowser should be finished coaching baseball soon and will likely be back in class.
June 20, 2008: We are in the process of revising our junior curriculum, this invloves redesiging our promotion schedule, rewritting our promotion manuals and redesiging our belt color system. This is a large and time consuming process, however I expect to have it completed by October 1 in time to use with the new dojo in Melbourne. The new cirriculum will probably be very similar to the one used in the Konan Yudanshakai. That cirriculum uses the new dual colar USJF belt system for junior Judoka with stripes. The promotion test they use are the same for each color, but requires a higher score to move to a different stripe within that color. The advantage is that we can use more regular promotions for younger judoka, then space them out in the 14-16 year old group. Hopefully this will help us retain younger students into their mid teen age years and beyond.
June 4, 2008: Classes are held in Calico Rock on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. Visitors welcome!
June 4, 2008: We plan to open a new club in Melbourne, AR this fall. Target date is October 1, 2008. The club will be coached by Coach Brian Bowser. The head instructor will attend one class a week in Melbourne and one class a week in Calico Rock. In addition the two clubs will host joint workouts once a month, alternating between Melbourne and Calico Rock. Classes in Melbourne are planned to take place in the First Baptist Church. More information will be posted as our plans are finalized.
Next Tournament: We intend to take a group of Ozark Mountain Judo fighters to a tournament near St. Louis, MO in Septembr. We will post additional information as the date approaches.
